Ready, Set, Grow
Even though we wrapped up construction on our first commercial greenhouse in October, the past three months have been filled with a flurry of activities to prepare us for our first harvest that we hope will take place in March. Our electrical and plumbing work is complete and we have assembled all of our growing channels on the east side of our greenhouse. Since we are not currently heating our greenhouse, we are just waiting for Mother Nature to provide us with slightly warmer temperatures before we start our first seeds.
We plan to work with Mother Nature though, so we will be starting off our first growing season with kale varieties, corn salad, and endives. We expect that these plants will thrive in the cool season growing conditions this spring. Once the weather warms up and the days get longer, we will begin to fill the greenhouse with lettuce varieties and herbs including basil, parsley, cilantro, and oregano. Our inventory of seeds is fully stocked for the 2021 season to give us flexibility on what we decide to plant as our market demands.
Be sure to check in on our blog again next month to see what we are up to and learn about where you can buy our produce this spring!
